Recipe Format Options
Ink Color
Recipe pages, personal pages, ad pages, photos, and one-color dividers will be printed in the chosen ink color.
Black ink is FREE. Navy, brown, or hunter ink costs extra.
Paper Color
- Our standard paper for recipe pages and personal pages is a premium, heavy, bright white 60-lb. paper.
- Cream-colored paper is an extra charge.
Recipe Notes
A Recipe Note is any non-recipe content that pertains to a specific recipe. Anything other than ingredients, directions, contributor name, serving size, and recipe title is a Recipe Note. Examples include recipe history, nutritional information, and suggested uses. Recipe Notes are an extra charge.
Recipe Subcategories
Recipes are grouped into categories such as Main Dishes or Desserts. Recipes can be further grouped into subcategories within each category, such as "Cakes," "Pies," etc., within the Desserts category. Subcategory headings will appear centered at the beginning of these recipes, as well as in the index section. Subcategories are an extra charge.
Recipe Fillers
Fillers (artwork or text, such as quotes or sayings) are offered as a way to enhance the bottom of the recipe pages where space allows. Fillers can only be used with non-continued recipes. We have 8 stock filler sets, or you can submit custom material. Order our Cookbook Kit for more details and samples. Fillers are an extra charge.
Non-Continued Recipes
Our standard practice is to print recipes continuously from page to page, breaking recipes where necessary. Printing recipes in a non-continued fashion does not split recipes from page to page. If you plan to use fillers, you must choose a format using non-continued recipes.
To the right is an example of continued recipes. Non-continued recipes are offered with most of our formats and are an extra charge. Recipe formats F10, F11, F12, and F13 include non-continued recipes at no extra cost.

Recipe Symbols
You can include recipe symbols on select recipes to denote a special feature. The recipe symbol will be placed directly after the recipe title on the recipe page. A symbol reference key will be placed on the table of contents page. Recipe symbols are an extra charge.
Recipe symbols cannot be used with recipe formats F6, F14, and F15. For your convenience, you can print our Recipe Symbol Sheet (PDF 148KB). You can cut out symbols and tape them onto Recipe Collection Sheets to denote recipes that require a symbol.
If you use typensave® software or typensave® online, you will be able to indicate which recipes need a symbol.
